Epistolary exists to carry a few heartfelt words from one person to another. We keep only what that takes, we never sell it, and we never use your letters for advertising.
If you write letters
- Your letters: the recipient's first name, your text, closing and signature, the paper, pen and ink you chose, and when the letter should open.
- An account identifier: the app creates an anonymous account so your letters stay yours. We don't ask for your email or phone number.
- Subscription status: purchases are handled by Apple. Our subscription provider, RevenueCat, tells us whether your subscription is active. We never see your payment details.
- Opening status: we record when a letter is first opened, and show it to you.
If you receive a letter
You don't need an account or the app to read a letter. Anyone with the link can read the letter once its opening date has passed, so share links only with the person they're meant for. We record the moment the letter is first opened and share it with the sender. We don't use tracking cookies or advertising identifiers.
Who processes your data
Letters are stored with Supabase (database), this site is hosted by Vercel, subscriptions are managed through Apple and RevenueCat. They process data only to provide their service to us.
How long we keep it
Your letters are kept until you delete them or ask us to delete your account. Deleting a letter also removes it for its recipient.
Your choices
You can ask for a copy of your data, or for its deletion, by writing to hello@epistolary.love. Epistolary is not intended for children under 13.
